Door goes down, then right back up?
The two small sensors at the bottom of the tracks stop the door from closing on a child, a pet or a car. When they're dirty, knocked out of line or wired wrong, the door refuses to close. Often it's a two-minute fix.

What we do
We check both sensor lights, alignment, lens condition and the low-voltage wire back to the opener. Sun glare in the late afternoon can also blind a sensor; we can reposition it or add a shield.
Every sensor visit ends with the auto-reverse test: a 2×4 flat under the door. It must reverse on contact. If it doesn't, the opener's force setting gets adjusted before we leave.

Two minutes, no tools
Wipe both lenses with a soft cloth. Look at the lights: both should be solid. If one blinks, gently bend its bracket until the light goes solid. Check for a trash can, a hose or a spiderweb in the beam. That fixes most 'broken' sensors.
